This morning was, in a lot of tiny ways, like having a canker sore. It's nothing that's going to hurt you or get in your way, but it's annoying nonetheless.
There were several things, including some motorists not quite watching what they were doing, and the fallout from the weekend's Family Fun Festivus (notably its related overindulging on free grilled food -- which, as always, was really good -- and the mandatory export of leftovers for next day's lunch. Which is, again, good...but you overindulge, right? And you have to pay for it.)
But I think what capped it was something I'd taken great pains to plan out. I have an order for some supplies that's long overdue. The company told me to check with my local post office to see if a package was being held for me (trust me, this post office doesn't hold things for me...if it comes in, I get it! But I did want to perform due diligence). I'd also planned my schedule so I'd be likely to come home after the mail had run, so I wouldn't have to go back up to the mailbox later today. But, sure enough, when I got to the post office, it was closed for lunch. Ha ha!
The day did answer some other questions, though. New card I applied for last week got here, and after doing some figuring, I found that things will work better if I don't transfer my balance. Instead, new card becomes emergency card because it's actually a better deal for any purchases I may have to make. Old card, one with a balance on it (which, I mean, doesn't have that onerous a rate on it to begin with), goes into deep-freeze until it's paid off.
(Of course, under the new budget I've set for myself, not only does that balance get paid down in a hurry, but I end up having enough money after bills and such that I shouldn't have to put much, if anything, on a credit card. And, if I do, I'll be able to pay it off quickly. New card provides me with great benefits and rewards if I do.)
Just for that discovery alone, today's been great. It didn't work out the way I had planned, but it did me one better, and I'm happy about it.
:: Some interesting things happened in the world of sports the last few days (and confidential to my man JP...you rock, dude!), but this is probably my favorite of all: The Dodgers beat the Angels Friday night, 1-0. Without recording a hit.
